Precautions

This drug should not be used in patients who have previously experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this drug. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients with allergies to this drug or cephalosporin antibiotics. Caution should be exercised with patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics or those prone to allergic reactions such as bronchial asthma, rash, or urticaria. In patients with severely impaired renal function, who have difficulty taking orally, elderly patients, or those in poor general condition, care should be taken as symptoms of vitamin K deficiency may occur. Caution should also be used in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Since this drug can rarely cause severe shock or anaphylaxis, symptoms should be closely monitored during administration, and administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment obtained if any abnormalities appear. There is a risk of severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis, so skin conditions must be monitored carefully. Blood abnormalities, liver dysfunction, and renal dysfunction may occur, so regular testing is required, and treatment should be stopped if any abnormal signs are observed. Since symptoms of severe colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis may appear, oral administration should be discontinued immediately if abdominal pain or diarrhea worsens. This drug can rarely cause neurological symptoms or fungal infections like stomatitis and candidiasis, necessitating caution. When using this drug, to prevent the development of resistant bacteria, it is advisable to check the susceptibility of the infective organism and administer it only for the minimum necessary duration. There may be interactions with other medications, so caution is warranted, especially when used with medications affecting renal function, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this drug cautiously as its safety has not been fully established, maintaining caution during breastfeeding as well. It is advisable to avoid using it in neonates due to the lack of established safety and efficacy. Elderly patients should be given careful dose adjustments due to risks of decreased physiological functions and vitamin K deficiency leading to bleeding. This drug may affect the results of some clinical tests such as urine sugar tests or direct Coombs tests, so this should be considered during testing.
