Treatment of respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia
This medication is effective against various bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is used for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis, and is effective for urinary tract infections such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, and urethritis. It is also applicable for bacterial infections such as gonorrhea, gastroenteritis, and typhoid fever. It is used for skin and soft tissue infections like wound infections and impetigo, helping with the treatment of infections. It is widely used to treat bacterial infections in various parts of the body.
Adults and children aged 12 years and older: Administer 2 tablets at a time, 2 times a day every 12 hours orally after meals. For long-term treatment (more than 14 days), use a maintenance dose of 1 tablet at a time, 2 times a day, and for severe infections, a maximum dose of 3 tablets at a time.
Children under 11 years of age: Administer 6mg of trimethoprim and 30mg of sulfamethoxazole per kg of body weight orally divided into two doses per day. Ages 6-11: 1 tablet at a time, 2 times a day Ages 3-5: 1/2 tablet at a time, 2 times a day
This medication may cause serious skin adverse reactions and blood disorders, as well as significant side effects such as liver and kidney dysfunction; therefore, if symptoms arise during use, administration must be discontinued immediately. This drug is not suitable for treating certain infections, and individuals with sulfamethoxazole allergies, pregnant women, neonates, preterm infants, and patients with certain enzyme deficiencies should not use it. Patients with blood disorders or weakened liver and kidney function, the elderly, and those with allergic predispositions should exercise extra caution when using this medication. Regular testing such as blood tests and liver and kidney function tests should be conducted during administration to detect and manage side effects early. This medication can interact with several drugs, so if taking other medications, consult with healthcare professionals, especially when combined with anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, and immunosuppressants. It is safest for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and nursing mothers not to use this drug. If it must be used, breastfeeding should be discontinued. In case of overdose, symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and in severe cases, blood disorders or kidney damage may occur; therefore, immediate medical attention is necessary. Even with long-term administration, there is a potential for side effects, so dosage and duration must be strictly followed according to medical guidance.
