Treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease, improvement of gastric mucosal lesions
This medication is used for various gastrointestinal disorders such as ulcers of the stomach or duodenum, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also helps improve damage, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa that occurs during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis or chronic gastritis. Through these effects, it effectively treats various problems related to the stomach and alleviates symptoms.
For cimetidine, administer 400 mg orally twice a day (morning, bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, administer 300 mg orally four times a day (after meals, at bedtime). The dosage may be increased to 400 mg orally four times a day (after meals, at bedtime) (total 1.6 g). For improvement of gastric mucosal lesions, administer 200 mg orally twice a day or 400 mg once a day.
Administer orally in divided doses of 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight daily.
Care must be taken to avoid glass fragments when cutting glass ampoule injections. Extra caution is necessary when used in children or the elderly. This medication should not be used in patients who have hypersensitivity to this drug or are allergic to its ingredients, and in patients currently taking dofetilide. The risk of cardiac arrhythmias may increase if taken with dofetilide. It should be administered carefully to patients with impaired kidney or liver function, patients with a history of drug allergies, the elderly, children under 19 years of age, and patients undergoing dialysis, with dosage adjustments or intervals as needed. Additionally, this medication can mask symptoms of stomach cancer; therefore, it should only be used after confirming that it is not stomach cancer. During the course of this medication, various adverse reactions such as leukopenia, abnormal liver function, renal impairment, allergic reactions, gynecomastia, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological symptoms, and skin rashes may occur. If any symptoms appear, consult a healthcare professional immediately. Use the minimum effective dose to confirm therapeutic effects, and consider switching to other treatments if there is no effect. The elderly and those with chronic illnesses should be cautious as the risk of pneumonia may increase. Given its numerous interactions with other medications, especially anticoagulants, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, antifungals, etc., dose adjustments or discontinuation should be done under the guidance of a healthcare professional. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant may find the use of this medication unsafe. It should only be used when necessary, and breastfeeding should be avoided if being used. Safety in children has not been established, so it should only be given in special cases. The elderly may have increased blood drug concentrations due to reduced kidney function, so the dose should be reduced or the dosing interval extended. In cases of overdose, respiratory depression may occur, necessitating immediate medical attention. When using as an injection, rapid intravenous administration should be avoided, and it should be infused slowly. Keep out of reach of children and avoid transferring to other containers.
