This medicine is used to treat parasitic infections such as trichomoniasis and amoebiasis. It also treats various infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, including peritonitis, skin and soft tissue infections, uterine and pelvic infections, and pneumonia, and is effective in preventing anaerobic infections that may occur after surgery. In particular, it is used for severe infections such as sepsis, brain abscess, pulmonary abscess, and osteomyelitis, helping to improve symptoms. This drug is widely used for the treatment of various medical and surgical infections and plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of infections.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Precautions

This drug has been reported to cause tumor occurrence in rodent animal experiments and should not be used unnecessarily. In patients with cocaine syndrome, this drug can cause severe hepatotoxicity or acute liver failure, so liver function tests should be performed and caution is warranted. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug, blood diseases, organic nervous system diseases, in early pregnancy, or those taking certain medications should not be treated with this drug. Severe adverse reactions can occur when taken with alcohol, so alcohol intake should be avoided for at least 3 days during and after administration. Patients with liver dysfunction, those in late pregnancy, central nervous system diseases, and those with impaired heart or kidney function should use this drug cautiously. This drug can cause various side effects in the digestive system, blood system, skin, nervous system, etc., so any unusual symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. Patients with severe liver disease may require dose adjustments as this drug and its metabolites can accumulate in the body, and regular monitoring during treatment is recommended. When taking this drug, confusion, drowsiness, hallucinations, seizures, visual disturbances, etc., can occur, so driving or operating machinery should be avoided. This drug can affect blood coagulation, so patients on anticoagulants need to monitor blood levels for dose adjustments. There are interactions with lithium, alcohol, disulfiram, some anticonvulsants, immunosuppressants, etc., so it is essential to inform about any medications being taken. During pregnancy, it may affect the fetus, so especially early pregnant women should avoid use, and breastfeeding should be suspended during treatment. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, and general treatment should be received. This drug should not be mixed when used with other antibiotics and must be used specifically for intravenous administration during infusion.
