Precautions

When using this drug as an injection, care must be taken when cutting the glass container. If glass fragments are mixed in, side effects may occur, so extra caution should be taken when administering to children or the elderly. This drug should not be administered to certain patients. Individuals with allergies to this drug or similar medications, those with obstructions or spasms in the digestive or urinary tracts, patients with bronchial asthma or bronchial spasms, individuals with inflammation in the eyes, those with hyperthyroidism, individuals with abnormal muscle tone, patients with Parkinson's disease, those in shock post-surgery or with heart-related conditions, and patients who have received certain muscle relaxants should not use this drug. Patients with impaired kidney function, those who have undergone gastrointestinal surgery or have peptic ulcers, diabetic patients, and individuals with liver damage should use this drug cautiously and should have regular liver function tests. Patients with weak heart function or those who have recently experienced a myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, bradycardia, or hypotension should also exercise caution. This drug can cause various side effects. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as respiratory muscle paralysis, muscle spasms, abdominal pain, diarrhea, sweating, and constricted pupils may occur, necessitating immediate cessation of use and appropriate treatment. Additionally, symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, watery eyes, and sweating may appear; if a skin rash develops, drug use should be discontinued. When administered intravenously, thrombophlebitis may occur, so caution is warranted. For patients with severe myasthenia gravis, symptoms may worsen or respiratory difficulties may arise, so dosing of this drug should be adjusted and administered carefully. Since this drug is primarily excreted through the kidneys, patients with renal dysfunction should start at a low dose and adjust based on therapeutic effect. Furthermore, when this drug is administered, there may be a temporary decrease in heart rate; appropriate treatment is required in such cases. This drug must not be used in conjunction with certain muscle relaxants, and caution is needed when combined with anticholinergic agents since side effects may be masked. Caution is also advised when used with cholinergic agents due to potentially enhanced effects. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits before using this drug, and breastfeeding women should avoid use if possible; if necessary, cessation of breastfeeding is recommended. Elderly individuals often have decreased renal function, which may prolong drug retention in the body; thus, starting with a lower dose and closely monitoring their condition is important. In the case of overdose, symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, sweating, and muscle spasms may occur, necessitating immediate discontinuation of use and intravenous administration of the drug atropine for treatment. Emergency measures such as artificial respiration or airway securing may be necessary if needed.
