This injection is effective against various bacteria including Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, Propionibacterium, Ureaplasma, Actinomyces, Peptococcus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. Major indications include treatment of serious lung infections such as empyema, pneumonia, and lung abscesses, as well as respiratory infections like tonsillitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, otitis media, and sinusitis, and also for complex infections such as peritonitis, abdominal abscesses, endometritis, and pelvic soft tissue infections. It is also effective for skin infections such as scarlet fever, sepsis, skin boils, and pustular acne. However, it should be administered under medical supervision in patients with penicillin allergies or where penicillin use is inappropriate, and the possibility of side effects such as pseudomembranous colitis should also be considered. In liquid or gel form, it is used for the treatment of seborrheic acne caused by Propionibacterium acnes. This drug is broadly used for treating various bacterial infections and improves infection symptoms.

Precautions

This drug is used for the treatment of severe infections and may sometimes cause severe colitis, so caution is needed. Particularly, if severe and persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, or fever occurs, consult a doctor immediately. This drug does not penetrate well into cerebrospinal fluid and is not suitable for treating meningitis. Caution must be observed when using the injection to avoid the presence of glass particles; especially, greater care should be taken with children and the elderly. Elderly or frail patients, and those with impaired liver or kidney function should use this drug cautiously. This drug may cause pain or numbness at the injection site when given intramuscularly, and thrombophlebitis may occur when administered intravenously. Gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and if severe allergic reactions or skin rashes develop, treatment should be discontinued immediately. Regular checks are necessary for long-term use as it may impact liver and kidney function. This drug may interact with other medications, especially muscle relaxants, anticoagulants, and certain antibiotics. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this drug, and special caution is required when administering it to neonates or children as safety has not been established. In the case of overdose, since there are no specific antidotes, appropriate emergency treatment should be given based on the symptoms, and careful attention should be paid to storage conditions to ensure it is used within its expiration period.
