Precautions

This drug works by binding to specific proteins and inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing bacteria. It should not be used in patients who have experienced acute shock from this medication. Patients with an allergic reaction to this medication or to cephalosporin antibiotics should also not be given this medication. Caution is advised in patients with a history of allergy to penicillin antibiotics, allergic constitution, or frequent symptoms such as asthma, skin rash, and hives. Patients with severely impaired renal function, elderly patients, or those who have poor nutritional status or difficulty with oral intake should also be administered with caution, and vitamin K deficiency symptoms may occur, so their condition should be closely monitored. Patients with a past history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, should also be cautious when using this medication. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions, skin diseases, blood abnormalities, liver and kidney dysfunction, gastrointestinal disturbances, respiratory issues, and central nervous system symptoms, so if any adverse symptoms occur, administration must be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. To prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria, it is important to conduct susceptibility testing and administer this drug only for the minimum required duration. There may be interactions with other medications, so patients taking probenecid, nephrotoxic drugs, diuretics, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives should inform their healthcare provider. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits outweigh the risks, and nursing mothers should also use it with caution. Safety in newborns under one month old has not been established, and elderly patients are at higher risk for side effects due to decreased bodily function, so dosage and administration intervals should be carefully adjusted. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so patients should inform their healthcare providers of their usage during testing.
