Precautions

When this medication is used as an injection, the glass ampoule should be carefully broken. If glass fragments are included, it may cause side effects, especially when used on children and the elderly. Patients with an allergy to this medication or any of its components should not use it. Care should be taken when administering to patients with poor kidney function, severe liver dysfunction, and infants under 2 years of age. Rarely, serious skin conditions may occur when using this medication, so if new damage appears on the skin or mucous membranes, use should be discontinued immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Symptoms of gastrointestinal disturbances may include dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, and, rarely, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or constipation. Allergic reactions such as skin rash or urticaria and respiratory distress may occasionally occur, so if these symptoms develop, the medical personnel should be informed immediately. In the respiratory system, symptoms of rhinitis may appear, while in the nervous system, sensory disturbances of the tongue or changes in taste, and rarely, numbness in the arms or around the mouth have been reported. This medication may increase the concentration of antibiotics in bronchial secretions and sputum when used with certain antibiotics, so caution is advised when co-administering. Its use during pregnancy, especially in the first three months, is not recommended, and breastfeeding women should use it only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so care should be taken in dosing. No specific symptoms have been reported from overdose; however, symptomatic treatment may be needed if adverse reactions occur. When injected, headaches, leg pain, and severe fatigue may occur, thus it is advisable to inject slowly.
