(Treatment of respiratory infections, urogenital infections) and improvement of (skin infections)
This medicine is used to treat various bacterial infections. It is effective for respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscess, as well as for tonsillitis, sinusitis, and otitis media. Additionally, it is used for treating urogenital infections such as cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as pelvic infections and sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea. It is also useful for skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, abscesses, soft tissue inflammation, and wound infections. Furthermore, it is used in the treatment of osteomyelitis and dental infections. In summary, this drug is used to treat bacterial infections in various areas.
Adults and children aged 12 years or older or weighing 40 kg or more: Administer 250 mg/125 mg of amoxicillin/potassium clavulanate orally three times a day every 8 hours. In cases of severe and respiratory infections, the dose can be increased to 500 mg/125 mg. In patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance: - Creatinine clearance 10 - 30 mL/min: Administer 250 mg to 500 mg of amoxicillin orally every 12 hours.
For children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 40 kg, the dosage should be adjusted in the same manner as for adults.
This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with allergies to penicillin or cephalosporin drugs. Patients with viral diseases such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia should be cautious as the risk of rash may increase when taking this medicine. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction should use this drug with caution as liver function impairment may recur. Patients with impaired liver function should consult a physician before taking this medication as it may worsen liver function. Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment should adjust the dosing interval as the drug may remain in the body longer, increasing the risk of side effects. Patients with a history of allergies or familial history may experience allergic reactions when taking this drug, so caution is advised. Patients who have difficulty with oral intake, poor nutritional status, or are elderly should be careful of the risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. Patients with gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting or diarrhea may not absorb the medication properly; therefore, consultation before taking is necessary. This drug can cause various side effects in the gastrointestinal system, including diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, so if severe diarrhea or bloody stools occur, it should be discontinued immediately and a physician consulted. Liver function abnormalities may occur, particularly more frequently in elderly or male patients, so regular liver function tests should be conducted. Rarely, serious skin reactions or hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylactic shock may occur, so if rash, itching, or difficulty breathing develops, the medication should be stopped immediately and emergency treatment sought. Blood tests may show leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and other hematological abnormalities, so regular blood testing is necessary. As this medicine may affect kidney function, patients suspecting renal dysfunction should consult a doctor immediately. With prolonged use, resistant bacteria may develop; therefore, it’s important to take the medication for the minimum necessary duration. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, especially during the first three months of pregnancy. Caution is advised for breastfeeding mothers due to potential side effects in the infant. This medication is recommended only for children aged 12 or older or weighing more than 40 kg; its use in younger children is not recommended due to limited experience. Elderly patients should take this medication with caution as decreased body function can increase the risk of side effects, thus adjusting the dosage and administration interval is necessary. While taking this medicine, certain clinical test results may be affected, so this should be communicated to healthcare personnel when testing. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include vomiting, diarrhea, rash, drowsiness, and seizures, thus the medication should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought from a medical facility. For storage, keep this medication in a tightly sealed container to protect it from moisture and air exposure. It is crucial to store it in a cool, dry place at or below 25 degrees Celsius to maintain its efficacy.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attack, respiratory distress accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, lightning headache, seizures, confusion, vision disturbances, paralysis, urination issues.
Diarrhea, indigestion, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, constipation, colonic pain, hyperacidity, loose stools, dry mouth, candidiasis, bloody stools, itching, erythema multiforme, rash, thrombocytopenic purpura, eosinophilia, prolonged bleeding time and prothrombin time, vaginal itching, increased discharge, anxiety, agitation, drowsiness, insomnia, hyperactivity, dizziness, headache, taste disturbances, fatigue.
