Precautions

This drug is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by binding to certain proteins and disrupting the synthesis of their cell walls. This drug should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication in the past. In addition, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or to cephalosporin antibiotics. Caution should be exercised if the patient has an allergy to penicillin antibiotics, or if they or their family have a history of allergy symptoms such as asthma, hives, or rashes. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, patients who have difficulty swallowing, the elderly, and patients in poor general condition should be monitored carefully due to the possibility of vitamin K deficiency symptoms. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, especially colitis, should also exercise caution when using this medication. This drug can rarely cause serious allergic reactions or shock, so if symptoms appear during use, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Severe rashes or vesicles may occur, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis, so the condition of the skin should be closely monitored. Blood tests may show decreased white blood cells or platelets, anemia, etc., so regular check-ups are necessary, and administration should be stopped if abnormalities are detected. Liver dysfunction or kidney dysfunction may occur, so liver and kidney function should be checked regularly. If any symptoms of severe colitis, such as severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, or blood in stools, occur, take immediate action to stop the medication. If respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty breathing arise, there may be a possibility of pneumonia, so treatment should be stopped and addressed. Central nervous system side effects such as restlessness, anxiety, dizziness, and drowsiness may rarely occur. Mouth infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis may occur. There may be a risk of bleeding tendency due to vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of vitamin B deficiency, so caution is necessary. When using this medication, check the susceptibility of the infecting bacteria to prevent the development of resistant strains, administering it for only the minimum necessary duration. This medication may interact with other drugs, so caution should be exercised, particularly when used with probenecid, nephrotoxic agents, diuretics, anticoagulants, and oral contraceptives. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication with caution, and nursing mothers should also be careful as the drug may transfer to breast milk in small amounts. Safety has not been established for newborns, especially those under 1 month of age. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily due to decreased bodily functions, and there is also a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so dosage and intervals should be adjusted carefully.
