Precautions

This medication can cause serious adverse reactions such as tendinitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system disorders. Special caution should be taken for patients with myasthenia gravis as there is a risk of symptom exacerbation. This drug should only be used for specific infections such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, simple urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media when there are no alternative treatment options available. Older adults, patients with impaired renal function, and those with certain central nervous system diseases should use this medication more cautiously. It is not recommended for use in pregnant or possibly pregnant women, nursing mothers, and individuals under 18 years of age. The risk of tendon rupture is increased when this drug is taken in combination with corticosteroids, therefore, they should not be taken together, and if pain or inflammation occurs, use should be stopped immediately and medical consultation sought. Neurological symptoms such as seizures, dizziness, insomnia, hallucinations, and depression may occur; if these symptoms arise, the healthcare provider should be informed immediately. This drug can interact with various medications, so if you are taking other medications, you must inform your healthcare provider, especially when taking theophylline, warfarin, diabetes medications, tizanidine, and ketoprofen. During treatment, strong sunlight and UV exposure should be avoided, and if a skin rash or itching occurs, use should be discontinued. If severe diarrhea or bloody stools appear, there is a possibility of pseudomembranous colitis, and immediate medical consultation is necessary. Overdose may cause renal function problems, so the prescribed dosage and frequency must be strictly adhered to. Finally, this drug is not for use in children and growing adolescents and should be stored in a location inaccessible to children, protected from direct sunlight.
