This medication is an antibiotic effective against various bacterial infections, targeting harmful bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. It is primarily used to treat respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia, as well as infections of the ear, nose, throat, bacterial prostatitis, complicated urinary tract infections, and various other localized infections. It is also widely applied in cases of gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal and biliary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bone and joint infections. However, due to the characteristics of fluoroquinolone drugs, it is recommended for use only when no other treatment options are available for specific conditions such as acute bacterial sinusitis, chronic bronchitis exacerbations, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections. This medication should be used cautiously considering the possibility of serious adverse reactions, but it is useful for effectively treating various infectious diseases.
