This medication is used for symptomatic relief of muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as lumbar pain, shoulder-hand syndrome, periarthritis of the shoulder, and degenerative spondylosis.

Dosage

Oral: As methocarbamol, administer 1.5-2.25g per day divided into three doses. Injection: As methocarbamol, administer 500mg by intramuscular or intravenous injection at one time, and do not exceed 1g at one time, or a total daily intake of 3g. Treatment should not extend beyond three consecutive days, and if pain persists, the same process may be repeated with caution 48 hours later.

Precautions

This medication should be used with caution as glass fragments may be mixed when cutting glass containers. Particular care is needed when used by children or the elderly. This medication should not be used by those with hypersensitivity, impaired kidney function, severe myasthenia gravis, patients in a comatose state, or those with a history of brain injury, epilepsy, or seizures. Patients with impaired liver function should use this medication cautiously, as symptoms may worsen during use. This medication contains sodium bisulfite, which can cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks; therefore, sensitive patients should be cautious. During the use of this medication, allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and itching may occur, and if such symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately. There is a risk of bradycardia or hypotension, so caution is needed. Neurological symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, motor coordination disorders, and headaches may occur; if symptoms are severe, the dosage should be reduced or administration should be discontinued. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, gastric discomfort, diarrhea, or constipation. Some patients may experience a metallic taste or symptoms like fever and nasal congestion. Pain or hard lumps may occur at the injection site, and thrombophlebitis may occur rarely. This medication may cause drowsiness or impair concentration and reflexes; therefore, driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. When taken with other central nervous system depressants or specific medications, the effects may be enhanced, increasing the risk of side effects, so it is recommended to use it alone. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if its benefits outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding women are advised not to use it. The safety and efficacy of this drug for children or adolescents have not been sufficiently established. Elderly patients may have decreased physical function; hence care should be taken to reduce the dose and monitor usage accordingly. This medication may influence some clinical test results, so it should be communicated during examinations. This medication should only be used as an injection when oral administration is difficult, and caution must be taken regarding the speed and method of injection. When injecting, the patient should be turned on their side, and care should be taken to cut the ampoule properly to prevent glass fragments from entering.
