Dosage

Oral: Administer methocarbamol 1.5-2.25g daily divided into 3 doses. Injection: Administer methocarbamol 500mg by intramuscular or intravenous injection. Do not exceed a single dose of 1g or a total daily dose of 3g, and do not administer continuously for more than 3 days. If pain persists, the same procedure may be cautiously repeated after 48 hours.

Precautions

This drug should not be administered to patients with a history of allergic reactions, renal impairment, myasthenia gravis, coma, or a history of brain injury, epilepsy, or seizures. It should be used cautiously in patients with poor liver function, as this medication may exacerbate symptoms. This drug contains sulfites, which can cause allergic reactions or asthma attacks, so special caution is required for asthma patients. If hypersensitivity symptoms such as rash, urticaria, or itching occur during use, administration should be stopped immediately. Cardiac side effects may include bradycardia or hypotension, so caution is advised. Neurological side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, and headache; if these symptoms are severe, the dosage may need to be reduced or the drug discontinued. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, gastric discomfort, diarrhea, or constipation. A metallic taste may occasionally be experienced, and symptoms such as fever or congestion have also been reported. There may be pain or induration at the injection site, and rarely, thrombophlebitis may occur, so the condition should be closely monitored after injection. This drug can cause drowsiness or decreased concentration, so it is advisable to avoid hazardous activities such as driving or operating machinery while taking it. When taken with other central nervous system depressants or specific medications, the effect may be enhanced, so careful dosage adjustment and attention are needed when used together. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the benefits and risks of using this drug, and breastfeeding women should preferably avoid its use. Safety for children and adolescents has not been sufficiently established, so caution is advised. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so attention is required, such as dose reduction. This drug may affect some clinical test results, so this should be considered during testing. Injections should only be administered when oral administration is not feasible, and intravenous injections must be given with the specified solution and rate. When injecting, the patient should be positioned on their side, and care should be taken to avoid glass fragments when opening the ampoule.
