This medication is used to relieve cough and phlegm.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older take 2 tablets per dose, 3 times a day after meals.

Children's dosage

Children aged 12 to under 15 years take 1 tablet per dose, 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided in patients under 18 years of age who are obese, have obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, or have severe pulmonary diseases, as there is a high risk of severe respiratory suppression. Patients with an allergy to this medication or its ingredients, those currently taking or have recently stopped taking (within the last 2 weeks) MAO inhibitors such as certain antidepressants or antipsychotic medications, children under 12 years old, nursing women, patients with glaucoma, those with lower urinary tract obstructive diseases such as prostatic hypertrophy should not use this medication. Individuals who have an allergic constitution or have previously experienced allergic symptoms to medications, patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, thyroid disease, diabetes, patients with cardiovascular diseases or hypertension, pregnant women or those who could become pregnant, individuals with increased intraocular pressure or urination disorders, those with specific respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic bronchitis, peptic ulcer patients, and those with epilepsy should use this medication with caution. Drowsiness may occur while taking this medication, so it is safer to avoid dangerous tasks such as driving a car or operating machinery. Additionally, caution should be exercised as excessive use or prolonged use of this medication can result in side effects. Concomitant use with other cold medications, cough suppressants, antihistamines, and sedatives may interact and exacerbate side effects; therefore, they should not be taken together. Combining with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may intensify drowsiness, so caution is advised. Pregnant or nursing women should preferably not use this medication, except in special cases, as the safety of this medication has not been established; particularly while nursing, there may be a decrease in breast milk secretion and the drug can be transmitted via breast milk. Particular caution is required for children, and children under 12 years of age should not be used due to a higher risk of respiratory suppression. The elderly may have diminished bodily functions, so this medication should be used with caution while closely monitoring their condition. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so one should inform the healthcare provider about its use before testing. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as consciousness disorder, seizures, and respiratory arrest may occur, so immediate medical attention is needed. Lastly, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and should not be transferred to another container to maintain the quality of the medication.
