Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease, improvement of gastric mucosal lesions
This medication is used for various gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also helps improve symptoms such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling, which are mucosal lesions occurring during acute exacerbation of acute and chronic gastritis. Therefore, this drug effectively acts on treating and alleviating symptoms of various gastrointestinal conditions.
Cimetidine is administered orally at a dose of 400 mg twice daily (in the morning and at bedtime) or 800 mg once daily (at bedtime). Additionally, 300 mg can be given four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dose can be increased to a maximum of 1.6 g by administering 400 mg four times daily (after meals and at bedtime). For acute gastritis and acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis aimed at improving erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling, a dose of 200 mg.

This drug can have glass fragments mixed in when using glass ampules, so care must be taken when cutting the container. Special caution is particularly necessary when used in children or the elderly. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or a history of such reactions, as well as those with certain heart diseases, should not use this medication. Patients with impaired renal or liver function, a history of drug allergies, the elderly, children under 19, or patients undergoing hemodialysis should exercise special caution when using this drug. This medication may hide symptoms of gastric cancer, so it is advisable to administer it only after confirming malignancy. Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric or duodenal ulcers should undergo eradication therapy. This medication can cause various side effects, including blood cell reduction, liver dysfunction, kidney problems, allergic reactions, hormonal changes, digestive disturbances, neurological issues, cardiac rhythm problems, and skin reactions. Should any of these symptoms occur, notify medical personnel immediately, and discontinue use if necessary, seeking appropriate treatment. This drug should be used at the minimum dose while closely monitoring the progression of the disease, and if ineffective, a switch to other treatment options should be made. Particularly in the elderly or patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease, regular monitoring of condition is essential. As this medication interacts with many other drugs, inform healthcare providers if there are concurrent medications, as dosage adjustments or discontinuation may be necessary. Pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this drug, and breastfeeding should be discontinued if using this medication. In children, safety has not been sufficiently established, so it should only be used when absolutely necessary. The elderly may experience increased drug concentration due to decreased renal function, requiring adjustments in dosage or administration intervals. In case of overdose, serious symptoms such as respiratory depression may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. When administered as an injection, avoid rapid intravenous administration and administer slowly to minimize side effects. Store out of reach of children and do not transfer to another container to maintain safety and quality.
