Precautions

This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who have previously experienced shock from this medication, patients with allergies to cephalosporins, patients with infectious mononucleosis, and patients with genetic diseases that prevent lactose digestion should not use it. Additionally, caution is required when using this drug. Patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions or allergies to penicillin antibiotics, those with a family history of allergic conditions, patients with severe renal impairment, patients or elderly individuals for whom oral intake is difficult, patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, and patients allergic to any of the components should use it carefully. This medication can rarely cause severe shock or allergic reactions; if such symptoms occur, treatment should be immediately discontinued, and appropriate care should be provided. Various side effects may occur, including decreased blood cell counts, liver function abnormalities, renal impairment, severe colitis, respiratory problems, stomatitis, dizziness, skin disorders, and it is important to closely monitor for these symptoms. When using this medication, it is advisable to confirm the susceptibility of the infecting organism to prevent the occurrence of resistant bacteria and to administer for the minimum necessary duration. Moreover, if hypersensitivity is suspected, treatment should be immediately stopped, and necessary emergency care should be sought. Regular monitoring of blood, renal, and liver function is crucial during prolonged use. Dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with impaired renal function, and caution should be taken as seizures may occur. Coadministration with nephrotoxic medications or diuretics may stress the kidneys, so it should be used cautiously. Additionally, concomitant use with probenecid may increase the blood concentration of this medication. Women who are pregnant or potentially pregnant should only use this drug when the benefits of treatment are deemed to outweigh the risks, as safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should also use it cautiously. In elderly patients, decreased physiological function may lead to an increased likelihood of side effects, and a tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency exists, so dosing and intervals should be adjusted, and conditions should be closely monitored. This medication can affect the results of certain clinical tests, causing false-positive results in glucose tests or direct Coombs tests, so caution is advised during testing. Finally, this drug may cause photosensitivity, so care should be taken to avoid excessive sun exposure.
