Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to this medication or any of its components. Patients with thyroid dysfunction, particularly those with nodular goiter or Hashimoto's thyroiditis, should avoid this medication. It should not be administered to patients with impaired kidney function or to neonates and infants under 6 months of age. Patients with herpetic dermatitis or those undergoing radioactive iodine treatment before and after should also avoid this medication. Caution is required for severely ill patients or those with a history of thyroid disease or renal failure when using this medication. If symptoms of severe allergic reactions appear, such as breathing difficulties or hives, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. It is also advisable to stop using it if pain, itching, rash, or irritation occurs on the skin, or if wound healing is unsatisfactory. Particularly in patients with extensive burns, hydration, kidney function, and metabolic status must be closely monitored, and if problems arise, use should be discontinued. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using this medication extensively or for a prolonged period, as it may affect thyroid function in the fetus or neonate. This medication can affect the results of thyroid function tests, so a gap between uses before and after testing is necessary. In case of excessive use, symptoms such as a metallic taste, burning sensations in the mouth and throat, and respiratory distress may occur, so caution is advised. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes; if it does get into the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with clean water. When used in conjunction with other medications, the effectiveness may be reduced or side effects may increase, so especially for patients receiving lithium treatment, it is advisable to avoid use. If sudden severe itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing occurs after use, visit a medical facility immediately. This medication should be stored away from direct sunlight, and care should be taken as it may corrode if stored in metal containers. Before use, the affected area should be cleaned and disinfected, and any soap or similar substances should be thoroughly washed off, as they may reduce the antibacterial effect.
