Primaran Tablets (Mequitazine)

Adult dose

Administer as Mequitazine, 5 mg orally twice a day. Adjust as appropriate according to age and symptoms.

This medication should not be administered to patients who have hypersensitivity to specific drugs. Patients with obstructive lower urinary tract conditions such as glaucoma or benign prostatic hyperplasia should also avoid using this medication. Patients in a coma or those who are on high doses of central nervous system depressants, as well as those taking certain antidepressants known as MAO inhibitors, need to exercise caution. It is also advisable not to use this medication in patients with epilepsy, hepatitis, or a history of allergy to this drug. Patients with cardiovascular diseases or congenital lactose degradation issues should avoid this medication. Patients with reduced kidney or liver function, peptic ulcer patients, and those with acute alcohol intoxication should use this medication with caution. Patients with respiratory diseases or a history of sleep apnea, as well as elderly patients, should also take this medication carefully. Rarely, this medication can cause skin rash or allergic reactions, so it should be discontinued immediately if any skin abnormalities occur. Symptoms of fatigue or jaundice may arise due to liver dysfunction, so careful observation is required. Bleeding symptoms may occur due to blood disorders, and if any unusual symptoms develop, the medication should be stopped. Cognitive symptoms such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, anxiety may manifest, so it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, and constipation may occur. Symptoms like irregular heartbeat or difficulty urinating may also rarely occur. During the course of this medication, drowsiness may occur, so it is safest to avoid driving a car or operating machinery. Taking this medication with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol may enhance its effects, so it should be used with caution. It is especially advisable not to take it with drugs that can affect the heart. Additionally, medications that may exacerbate glaucoma or constipation should be avoided in combination with this drug. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should avoid taking this medication, and nursing mothers should also refrain from using it and discontinue breastfeeding. Safety for pediatric use has not been established, and it is particularly advisable not to use it in infants under 2 years old. In case of overdose, symptoms such as lethargy, nausea, and vomiting may occur, so immediate contact with medical personnel and appropriate treatment are necessary.
