Adults: Administer 250 mg of aminophylline hydrate per dose, diluted in saline or dextrose injection, slowly by intravenous injection or infusion over 5 ∼ 10 minutes, 1 ∼ 2 times a day. The interval between doses should be at least 8 hours, and the maximum dose is 12 mg/kg of body weight per day. Adjust as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

The blood concentration of this medication must be periodically monitored and the dosage adjusted accordingly. If the blood concentration is too high, serious side effects such as convulsions or rapid heartbeat may occur. Patients with heart disease should exercise particular caution when using this medication. When using the ampoule injection, care should be taken to avoid glass fragments from contaminating the injection solution, especially when administering to children or the elderly. Patients who have allergies to this medication or its components, or who have had hypersensitivity reactions to xanthine-based drugs, should not use this medication. Patients with specific conditions such as ulcers in the stomach or duodenum, porphyria, acute tachyarrhythmia, or myocardial infarction should not receive this medication. Patients with epilepsy, hyperthyroidism, poor kidney or liver function, hypertension, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication with caution. This medication may occasionally cause side effects such as headaches, insomnia, dizziness, irregular heartbeat, indigestion, or skin rashes, and in cases of overdose, convulsions or coma may occur. When using this medication, it may interact with other drugs, so caution is needed, especially when taken with central nervous system stimulants, certain antibiotics, heart medications, or beta-blockers. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should administer this medication cautiously under a doctor's judgment, as it may affect the fetus or infant. It is advisable not to use this medication in infants under 6 months of age, and caution is required in children with a history of seizures or convulsions due to the risk of seizures. Elderly patients may require dosage adjustments due to significantly increased blood concentration from decreased liver function. As the side effects may worsen with increased blood concentration, it is crucial to develop an appropriate dosing plan through blood concentration monitoring. Administering the injection rapidly may lead to severe reactions such as arrhythmias or shock, thus it must be diluted and injected slowly.
