Precautions

This drug should not be used by patients with glaucoma, those allergic to this medication, patients with myasthenia gravis, or children under 3 years of age. It should also not be administered to patients with genetic issues like galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption since it contains lactose. Patients with urinary obstructive conditions such as prostatic hypertrophy, those with arrhythmias or tachycardia, patients with liver or kidney dysfunction, elderly patients, children over 3 years of age, and individuals in hot environments should use this drug cautiously. When taking this drug, central nervous system symptoms such as movement disorders, confusion, hallucinations, consciousness disturbances, nonsensical speech, nervous irritability, anxiety, depression, lethargy, and sensory abnormalities in the hands and feet may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms can include dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, and constipation. Urinary difficulties or urinary retention may arise in the urinary system. If skin rashes occur as an allergic reaction, the drug should be discontinued. Visual disturbances may also occur, requiring caution. This drug should be started at a low dose and gradually increased while monitoring the condition. When switching from another medication to this one, it is safe to slowly reduce the existing drug while gradually increasing the dose of this drug. Regular eye exams and intraocular pressure checks are recommended during administration. Unlike some other antiparkinsonian agents, this drug may not alleviate involuntary movements around the mouth and could worsen symptoms. Additionally, while taking this drug, attention, concentration, and reflexes may decline, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. Caution is advised when using this medication in combination with phenothiazine drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, and reserpine derivatives, as the effects may be intensified. Furthermore, concurrently administering anticholinergic drugs may lead to symptoms of intestinal paralysis (such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, severe constipation, abdominal distension), in which case discontinuation of the medication is necessary. These symptoms may be obscured due to the emetic effect, thus careful observation is required. The safety of this drug has not been established in pregnant or potentially pregnant women, as well as in nursing mothers, so administration should be avoided.
