Precautions

The blood concentration of this medication should be regularly monitored to adjust the dosage. If the blood concentration becomes too high, severe side effects such as seizures or rapid heart rate may occur. Particular caution should be exercised when used in patients with heart conditions. When using glass ampule injections, care should be taken to cut carefully to avoid glass fragments mixing in, especially when used in children or the elderly. Patients who are allergic to this drug or its components, or who have experienced serious side effects, should not use it. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers, porphyria, those hypersensitive to caffeine or theobromine, acute tachyarrhythmias, or myocardial infarction should find it safer not to administer this drug. Patients with epilepsy, hyperthyroidism, impaired kidney or liver function, infants, the elderly, and those with hypertension should use this medication cautiously, and it should be administered to pregnant or breastfeeding women only under medical guidance. This medication may cause various side effects including headache, insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, and, rarely, muscle damage or liver function abnormalities. Caution should be taken as discontinuing smoking may increase the blood concentration of this drug. Due to many potential drug interactions, it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist when using it alongside other xanthine medications, central nervous system stimulants, antibiotics, beta-blockers, etc. Pregnant women should use it only when necessary, as it may affect the fetus, and breastfeeding women should administer it with caution as it may induce hyperexcitability symptoms in the baby. It is advisable not to administer it to infants under 6 months of age, and children with a history of epilepsy or seizures should use it more cautiously. The elderly may require dosage adjustments due to decreased liver function, which could raise the drug's concentration. This medication can have severe side effects when administered as a rapid intravenous injection; therefore, it should be diluted and injected slowly.
