The safety of this drug has not been tested.
This drug is in a glass ampule form, so glass shards may mix when cutting the container, and care should be taken when severing the container. Special caution should be exercised when used in children and the elderly. This drug should not be used in patients with poor kidney function, those in a coma, patients with elevated blood magnesium levels, patients with cardiac conduction disorders, and myasthenia gravis patients. It should be administered cautiously to children infected with intestinal parasites or patients with heart diseases. Side effects related to the digestive system, such as vomiting or dry mouth, may occur with this medication. Rarely, bradycardia or conduction disturbances may occur, and if administered too quickly, skin flushing or vascular dilation may be observed. Additionally, symptoms of the autonomic nervous system such as headache, heaviness in the head, tremors, and paresthesia may appear. Administration of large amounts may lead to magnesium toxicity, which can result in symptoms such as warmth, thirst, low blood pressure, central nervous system depression, decreased heart rate, and respiratory paralysis, requiring immediate appropriate treatment. Caution is necessary when used with other medications that may enhance central nervous system depression. Co-administration with certain antibiotics or iron supplements may reduce the absorption of these drugs. During pregnancy, it may be used for the treatment of eclampsia, but continuous monitoring of the fetus is necessary due to potential effects such as reduced muscle tone, diminished reflexes, and hypotension. During delivery, there is a risk of respiratory depression in the newborn, and long-term use may raise concerns about potential skeletal side effects in the fetus. Lactating women should avoid administration unless under special circumstances, as the safety of this drug has not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, so care should be taken by slowing the administration rate and reducing the dosage as needed. Severe side effects may occur in case of overdose, requiring discontinuation of the drug, and if necessary, intravenous administration of calcium as an antidote for treatment. This drug should be slowly injected at a concentration of less than 10% for intravenous administration, and caution is required as precipitate may form when mixed with other medications. Additionally, to prevent infections, the skin and instruments should be disinfected before administration, and the medication should be used immediately after opening, with any remaining drug not to be reused.
