Adults: Dilute 250 mg of aminophylline hydrate per dose in a normal saline injection or glucose injection solution, and administer slowly intravenously or by intravenous drip over 5 ∼ 10 minutes, 1 ∼ 2 times daily. Allow at least 8 hours between doses; the maximum dose is 12 mg per kg of body weight per day. Adjust the dose as appropriate according to symptoms.

Precautions

The dose must be adjusted by periodically checking the serum concentration. If the serum concentration is too high, serious side effects such as seizure or cardiac arrhythmia may occur. Patients with heart disease should take special care when using this medication. When using glass ampules, care should be taken as glass fragments may mix, especially when administering to children or the elderly. Patients with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or xanthine agents should not use it. Patients with peptic ulcers, porphyrias, acute tachyarrhythmias, or myocardial infarction should also avoid this medication. Those with epilepsy, hyperthyroidism, kidney or liver dysfunction, hypertension, elderly patients, pregnant or nursing women should use this drug with caution. This drug can cause various side effects such as headaches, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, and arrhythmias; any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. Smoking or alcohol intake can affect the drug's concentration in the body, so caution is needed. There are many interactions with other drugs, and dose adjustments or avoidance may be necessary depending on the medications taken together. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this medication cautiously under the guidance of a physician, as it may affect the fetus or newborn. It is preferable not to administer this medication to infants under 6 months of age, and caution is advised for children with a history of seizures or fever due to infection. Elderly patients may require dose adjustments due to increased drug concentration from decreased liver function. Rapid intravenous injection may increase the risk of side effects; therefore, it should be administered slowly after dilution for 5 to 10 minutes. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as nausea, seizures, and cardiac issues may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication has been reported to potentially cause mutagenicity; therefore, caution is necessary with long-term use.
