People who say they want to lose some weight this year, please exercise indoors.
 

If your New Year's goal is to lose weight, start your winter workouts 'properly.' To enhance the effects of your diet, it's better to exercise indoors in a warm environment rather than outdoors in the cold.

 

There is a research study analyzing the temperature of exercise environments and the effects of exercise. The study was conducted by research teams from the University of Aberdeen and the University of Birmingham in the UK, involving 16 obese individuals. Initially, participants exercised on a treadmill for 45 minutes at a temperature of 20°C, followed by another session for 45 minutes at 8°C. After each exercise session, they were taken to a buffet to eat, and their food intake and other related data were recorded.

 

As a result, the group that exercised in a cold environment consumed more carbohydrates compared to the group that exercised in a warm environment. Analysis of the blood levels of the appetite-stimulating hormone 'ghrelin' showed that the ghrelin concentration in people who exercised in a cold place was up to 0.24 pg/mL higher than in those who exercised in a warm place.

 

This is analyzed to be because exercising in a cold place hinders smooth metabolism. 

 

When exercising in hot places, nutrients are supplied to the organs and cells more slowly or less efficiently, leading to a greater feeling of hunger. If the goal is to lose weight, exercising indoors during the cold winter is more helpful than exercising outside.
