Actress Ahn So-hee (32) introduced the exercise she enjoys.

 

On the 11th, a video titled "Ha; I shouldn't tell you everything... Ahn So-hee's first revealed Son Min-soo item | ELLE KOREA" was uploaded to the YouTube channel "Elle Korea." In the video, Ahn So-hee talked about the Power Plate exercise. When asked, "What do you think of the Power Plate exercise?", Ahn So-hee replied, "Of all the exercises I've been doing, the one I've been doing the longest is the Power Plate.

 

“I love it,” she replied. “First of all, it’s not that burdensome because the basic exercise time is only 30 minutes,” said Ahn So-hee. “But even 30 minutes can make a big difference depending on what movements you do on it.” She continued, “If you do aerobic exercise, you’ll sweat a lot in just 30 minutes, and even simple stretching is much more effective, so I highly recommend it to friends who put off working out.” What kind of exercise is the Power Plate exercise that Ahn So-hee revealed to be the exercise she’s been doing for the longest time?


Power Plate exercises utilize the Power Plate, a device from the American fitness equipment manufacturer Power Plate. The Power Plate is a piece of exercise equipment with a handle attached to a plate wide enough for one person to stand on. When the power button is pressed, it vibrates 30 to 50 times per second in all directions. Vibration exercises like the Power Plate were originally invented in the 1960s for astronauts. Astronauts often experience muscle and bone weakness during prolonged periods of weightlessness in space. To prevent this, they applied vibrations to the entire body to achieve a workout effect.

 

Power Plate exercises involve standing on a wobbly plate and performing simple strength exercises like push-ups and squats. Power Plate exercises also offer quick muscle stretching benefits. Because the Power Plate machine vibrates the body, flexibility improves compared to stretching on the floor. It's been reported that the length of time you can bend and stretch before and after a Power Plate workout can vary by 2-3cm. When the vibrations of the Power Plate are transmitted to the body, it continually attempts to correct any imbalance, which can also improve balance.

 

Power Plate exercises are also great for massaging areas you want to relax. Furthermore, because the micro-vibrations gently relax muscles, there's no risk of joint injury, making them suitable for older adults. Because Power Plate exercises utilize the entire body, a 30-minute session can provide the same benefits as two and a half hours of exercise. For health maintenance, it's recommended to do it once a week, or two to three times a week for faster results.

 

However, beginners should exercise under professional guidance to avoid the risk of injury. Check with your instructor to see if they have a "Power Plate Master" who has completed the Power Plate training course. In Korea, the certification is issued by the Korea Federation of Sports Sciences (KFTA) (Functional Training Academy).
