Exercise is more than just about improving physical fitness. It reduces the risk of various diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. It also relieves stress, promotes better sleep, and improves mental health.

Experts say, “Exercise is important regardless of age because it has such a profound impact on us,” and “Exercising throughout life is the surest way to live a long, healthy and successful life.”

However, those who haven't exercised regularly often don't know what kind of exercise they should do and at what intensity. Experts say, "Even without the athletic training of athletes, even light exercise that's easy for the average person can help maintain health and prevent various diseases."

Examples of light exercise include walking, dancing, cycling on flat surfaces, and gardening. Based on data from UPI and Fox News, we examined three research findings demonstrating the health benefits of light exercise.

You should exercise even if you have arthritis.

The first is that light exercise is good for relieving arthritis. According to a research team at the University of North Carolina, arthritis pain was reduced when arthritis patients regularly performed light joint exercises.

The research team studied the correlation between an eight-week exercise program and arthritis treatment in 346 arthritis patients, with an average age of 70. The results showed that patients who completed the exercise program experienced reduced pain, and the treatment effects persisted for six months, even after they stopped exercising.

The research team randomly divided the subjects into two groups. One group followed an arthritis exercise program for one hour twice a week, while the other group remained instructed on the program and continued their normal lifestyle. The arthritis exercise program consisted of stretching exercises designed to strengthen muscles without straining joints.

Sitting on the floor with your legs straight and repeatedly tightening and releasing your knees can help build muscle strength. The group that participated in the arthritis exercise program stretched their arms and legs in this manner for eight weeks.

As a result, the group that participated in the arthritis exercise program experienced relief of arthritis pain and improved arthritis treatment outcomes compared to the other groups. According to the study, the effects of the eight-week exercise program persisted for six months even after the program ended, even though the patients did not engage in any other exercise.

Experts say, “As we age, cartilage and joints wear out, causing osteoarthritis.” They also say, “To prevent joints from stiffening due to chronic arthritis, it is good to repeat the movement of applying force to each joint for more than 10 seconds and releasing it 10 to 15 times twice a day, in the morning and evening.”

Low-intensity exercise alone can lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

A second study found that even light, low-intensity exercise was sufficient to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. According to a research team at the University of Montreal in Canada, even light exercise at an intensity 20% lower than the average exercise for healthy people is effective enough to prevent heart disease.

==============

It's not only intense exercise that has good exercise effects.

Even a light walk. Is that what you call calisthenics?

It is effective for cardiovascular disease.
