“I have cramps in my legs and I’m constipated out of nowhere”… Are these also signs of dehydration?

Feeling thirsty is a sign that your body is dehydrated. However, thirst isn't the only sign of dehydration. While it's easy to become dehydrated in hot weather like these days, you can still be dehydrated even if you don't feel thirsty.

This is why we must be aware of the various signals our bodies send us. While the generally recommended daily intake of water is eight glasses, the actual amount varies from person to person. According to Prevention, a US health and medical media outlet, children and the elderly should drink more to prevent dehydration.

If you have a history of cardiovascular disease, are taking certain medications, or have recently had a viral infection, you may need to hydrate more. Your needs also vary depending on the weather and circumstances, such as hot and humid weather or when exercising.

To prevent dehydration, you should drink water when you feel thirsty. Typically, thirst occurs when the body loses about 2% of its water content. If you don't drink enough water at this point, dehydration will worsen. You should also drink plenty of water in the following situations:

“I suddenly had a muscle cramp…”

Plasma, the liquid component of blood, is composed of water, protein, and sodium. When water is depleted, plasma becomes concentrated, thickening the blood and hindering its smooth flow. When blood flow is impaired, the body doesn't actively supply blood to areas it deems less important. Muscles are a prime example, and this can lead to muscle cramps.

“I started to feel constipated”

Dehydration can also lead to bowel dysfunction, with constipation being a prime example. The digestive system also needs sufficient water to function properly. Hydration is crucial for improving intestinal health and function.

“Your urine is too dark.”

Dark urine color is also associated with dehydration. If you're adequately hydrated, your urine will be a pale lemon color. However, if your fluid intake decreases, your urine will become darker than usual.

“I’m tired for no reason.”

Fatigue is also a sign of dehydration. Dehydration impairs blood flow, preventing sufficient blood flow to the brain and increasing the strain on the heart. This leads to increased fatigue. Decreased blood flow to the brain can also lead to headaches.

“My mouth is dry.”

neck Even if your mouth isn't dry, if it feels dry, it means you're dehydrated. This happens when your body doesn't produce enough saliva due to a lack of water. Dry mouth can cause bad breath, so before trying to eliminate it with gum, it's best to drink a glass of water first.

“Piss drip drip drip”

Dehydration also affects the amount of urine produced. Water helps the kidneys remove waste products from the blood through urine. Dehydration impairs kidney function, reducing urine output. Chronic dehydration can lead to health problems such as kidney stones.

“Rough skin”

Skin is made up of 80% water. When water is depleted, skin becomes dry.

====================

Drinking water often really improves your skin.

I used to have oily skin

I have been drinking water frequently since I was young.

I have one of the good habits.

Are you thirsty?

The moment you feel this, you already know that you are running out of water.

Rather than drinking too much at once

It's good to drink little by little often...

30 minutes before and 30 minutes after meals are good.
