Many people exercise daily to stay healthy or look younger. However, excessive exercise can actually trigger free radicals, accelerating aging, so caution is advised.
◇Excessive active oxygen promotes aging
Excessive free radicals attack normal cells in the body, accelerating aging and increasing the risk of various diseases, including cancer. Because free radicals exist wherever cells exist, every organ in the body is vulnerable to their attack.
If there are too many active oxygen species, brain cells are damaged, which can lead to dementia; if blood vessels are damaged, which can lead to arteriosclerosis; if the eyes are attacked, which can lead to cataracts; and if the skin is affected, which can lead to many wrinkles.
◇You should stretch after high-intensity exercise.
Reactive oxygen species are continuously produced as we breathe. This is because nutrients and oxygen are the primary raw materials for reactive oxygen species. Therefore, high-intensity exercise, which causes rapid breathing, generates more reactive oxygen species. During high-intensity exercise, it's important to gradually reduce activity and stop. This allows oxygen to be consumed gradually, preventing any remaining oxygen from converting into reactive oxygen species. If you suddenly stop exercising during intense exercise, the excess oxygen produced to maintain the high intensity will not be used as energy but instead will become reactive oxygen species.
It's best to exercise at a moderate intensity, enough to cause a light sweat. After a high-intensity workout, don't stop immediately. Ending with low-intensity exercise, such as walking or stretching, can help prevent the production of free radicals.
The cross-legged position should also be avoided as it can generate free radicals. Cross-legged posture restricts blood flow to the legs, and suddenly stretching them out can stimulate this previously suppressed flow, generating free radicals. Furthermore, cigarette smoke, stress, and ultraviolet rays can also promote free radical production.
