Review of eye asymmetry and increased forehead wrinkles resulting from side effects of eye shape correction surgery

I developed uneven eyes after eyelid correction surgery.

Due to the side effects of eyelid correction surgery, I developed a complex I didn't have before, and I am still bothered by it and stressed about it. I am leaving this review in the hope that anyone considering surgery will also look into cases of side effects.

 

 

The photo above is a picture of me before I had eye shape correction surgery.

My eyes weren't originally exactly the same size, but I rarely heard anyone say that I had uneven eyes.

However, my ability to open my eyes seemed weak, and when I took photos, my eyes looked a bit stuffy, so I started considering eye shape correction.

When I had a consultation at the hospital, I was told that eyelid correction would improve the strength of opening the eyes and create a clearer impression.

 

 

At the time, I thought that simply having surgery would result in high satisfaction.

I looked up a lot of online reviews, and since most of them were positive, I wasn't too worried.

Of course, I did see posts about the side effects of eyelid correction, but I thought it wouldn't apply to me.

 

 

However, I started to feel something strange after my recovery from the surgery was somewhat complete.

The first thing that caught my eye was the thickness of the double eyelid.

The double eyelid line on the right was much thicker than the left, and the difference did not decrease over time. At first, I thought it was due to swelling and waited, but it remained the same even after several months.

From then on, I gradually became more anxious and sensitive.

 

 

Eventually, it reached the point where even the people around me recognized it first.

You can tell how serious it is just by looking at the photo, right?

Not only my close friends but even people I hadn't seen in a long time told me that my eyes looked uneven.

Originally, I rarely heard anyone say that I had uneven eyes, but after the surgery, I frequently heard people say that my right eye looks thicker and the shape of my eye looks different, to the point where anyone can see it.

For me, this was the biggest side effect of the eyelid correction.

 

 

Another problem was the power to open one's eyes.

The original reason for the eyelid correction was to strengthen the muscles that open the eyes, but as a result, both sides did not improve in a balanced way.

I felt that the strength to open my right eye had increased, but I didn't feel much difference in my left eye compared to before the surgery.

So when I look straight ahead, my right eye opens wider and my left eye looks relatively smaller.

This was one of the typical side effects of eyelid correction surgery that I experienced.

 

 

Furthermore, the strength used to open the eyes has also changed on both sides.

While my right eye opened relatively easily, I still felt the need to strain my left eye.

As a result, I unconsciously used my forehead to open my eyes, and over time, my forehead wrinkles increased noticeably.

I originally had surgery to improve the muscles that open my eyes, but instead, due to the side effects of the eyelid correction, I ended up with a habit of tensing my forehead.

There have been more days when I look in the mirror and see fine wrinkles all over my forehead.

It's really stressful.

 

 

The height of my eyebrows has also changed from before.

If you compare the photos, you can see that the right eyebrow is slightly higher than the left, right?

The overall balance of the face also looked different.

Since people look not just at the eyes but also at the harmony between the eyes and eyebrows, the difference in eyebrow height felt more significant than expected.

I hadn't anticipated this aspect at all before the surgery.

However, after actually experiencing the side effects of eye shape correction, I realized that it can affect not only eye size but also eyebrow position and facial expressions.

 

The difference was more visible when I took a picture.

My eyes looked different every time I took a selfie, so I ended up retaking it several times, and I naturally started checking my eyes first when looking in the mirror.

After experiencing side effects from eyelid correction, I looked back at my old photos and actually thought that I looked more natural before the surgery.

I can't even make proper eye contact because I worry that people will notice my uneven eyes at a glance whenever I make eye contact.

 

Of course, not everyone will experience the same side effects of eyelid correction as I did.

There are many people who are satisfied, and there are certainly those who achieve good results.

However, I believe that before surgery, you should not focus solely on the advantages but also thoroughly investigate the potential side effects of eyelid correction. In particular, I strongly recommend that you check for cases of side effects such as asymmetry, uneven eyes, overcorrection, undercorrection, and differences in the strength of the left and right eyelids!!

 

 

Even now, whenever I look in the mirror, I am bothered by the difference in the thickness of my double eyelids, and when taking photos, I am conscious of the difference in eye size.

I've also become more conscious of the difference in eyebrow height and forehead wrinkles than before.

I have even considered revision surgery, but I cannot easily make a decision because I am worried about another side effect from the eyelid correction.

 

 

Before the surgery, I thought that the side effects of eyelid correction were something that happened to other people.

However, having experienced it firsthand, I realized that even a small difference can be a significant source of stress. If you are considering eyelid correction, I hope you will listen to opinions from various clinics, get an accurate diagnosis of your current eye condition, and make a careful decision!!

You must fully consider not only the benefits of the surgery but also the potential side effects of eyelid correction!!

I developed uneven eyes that I didn't have before, and I experienced asymmetry where my right eye looks bigger, a difference in eyebrow height, and even increased forehead wrinkles.
