Which is better, scalp tattooing or hair transplantation?

I am concerned that my scalp is visible on the top of my head, but the cost and recovery period of a hair transplant are burdensome.

I looked it up and found that there is also a way to fill in the empty areas with scalp tattooing.

For those who have chosen one of the two, what criteria did you use to make your decision? I am also curious if scalp tattoos change color or fade over time.
