A new year has dawned. After wrapping up 2024, many of you are likely resolving to a healthier and more energetic year ahead. If you've been feeling fatigued and out of sync, try foods that help relieve fatigue and get back on track.

 

◇Kiwi

 

Kiwifruit is rich in vitamin C, which helps boost vitality. This is because vitamin C promotes the secretion of adrenaline, serotonin, and oxytocin, which are happiness hormones. Kiwifruit is also rich in dietary fiber and minerals, which help relieve fatigue. The chlorophyll and isoflavones in kiwifruit also help relieve fatigue by promoting liver cell regeneration. In fact, a research team at the University of Otago in New Zealand found that people who ate two kiwifruits daily for four weeks experienced a 38% and 34% decrease in fatigue and depression, respectively, and a 31% increase in energy.

◇Strawberry

 

Strawberries are known to have the highest vitamin C content of any fruit. The vitamin C in strawberries activates the adrenal cortex, which regulates various hormones, making them highly effective in relieving fatigue, boosting immunity, and relieving stress. Its antioxidant properties also help brighten skin. Strawberries are even more beneficial when paired with dairy products like milk, probiotic drinks, and yogurt, as they provide calcium and help prevent osteoporosis.

 

◇Tangerine

 

A single refreshing tangerine contains over 30 mg of vitamin C. The vitamin C in tangerines stimulates energy metabolism, and the citric acid, which gives them their sour taste, removes fatigue-causing substances from blood vessels and promotes metabolism. Furthermore, citrus fruits like tangerines, oranges, and Hallabong are rich in vitamin A, which helps relieve eye fatigue.

 

◇Apple

 

If you're feeling extremely tired every morning, try eating an apple. Known as the queen of fruits, apples are rich in vitamin C, which helps relieve fatigue and strengthens the body's immune system. If you experience persistent fatigue, it could be due to poor liver health. The pectin in apples helps eliminate toxins produced during digestion, easing the burden on the liver's detoxification process. Furthermore, the red skin of apples contains anthocyanins, which have powerful antioxidant properties, making them beneficial when eaten with the skin on.

 

◇Oysters

 

Oysters, in season during the winter, are also excellent for fatigue recovery. Oysters contain 1,163 mg of taurine per 100 g. Known as a natural fatigue reliever, taurine not only boosts brain function but also activates muscle cell function, increasing muscle energy levels. This allows muscles to consume more glucose, quickly replenishing the body's energy needs.

 

◇Walnuts

 

Walnuts, known as brain-boosting foods, also have a mood-boosting effect. Antioxidants like selenium and linolenic acid in walnuts relieve brain fatigue and activate brain nerves. Eating walnuts helps alleviate stress and depression, and the tocopherol in walnuts reduces fatigue and promotes energy recovery. In fact, a study by the University of South Australia in Australia found that people who ate half a cup of walnuts daily had lower stress and depression levels than those who didn't.
