Eat what you like, no calorie restrictions… and still lose weight!
A study found that 'anti-diet' methods that pursue sustainable eating habits are effective in reducing weight and waist circumference.
Anti-diet is a weight loss method based on high-fiber foods, and is characterized by not counting calories or restricting foods. However, the diet ▲Fiber-rich foods including oily fish, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and legumes Consume it

A research team at King's College London in the United Kingdom conducted a comparative analysis of 347 obese adults with an average body mass index (BMI) of 34. Participants were divided into two groups: the anti-diet group and the control group (who followed a standard diet appropriate for their ideal weight) for 18 weeks. The research team measured the participants' blood lipid levels, blood sugar levels, and gut microbiome levels.
The analysis results showed that those who practiced anti-diet reduced their waist circumference by an average of 6.3 cm and their weight by an average of 2.17 kg. The control group saw an average decrease in waist circumference of 5.35 cm and a weight loss of 0.3 kg. Blood cholesterol levels also decreased by approximately 0.3 mmol/L more in the anti-diet group than in the control group. Anti-diet participants also experienced less hunger and had better sleep quality than the control group.
The research team analyzed that nutrients such as beta-glucan obtained from high-fiber foods had a dieting effect while practicing anti-diet.
Beta-glucan, a soluble fiber, helps eliminate intestinal waste and maintains a feeling of fullness for a long time. By eliminating waste, it also maintains a healthy balance of intestinal microbes.
“Some diet plans are too restrictive in calories or focus on low-fat foods, which makes it difficult to achieve long-term weight loss results,” said Professor Tim Spector, who led the study. “Anti-diet plans are easier for people to follow, effective in improving health, and help reduce hunger.”
