Do I need to get a separate retinal examination even if my vision is fine during the eye checkup?

My glasses prescription doesn't change much, and I don't have any particular discomfort in my eyes, so I thought I just needed to get an eye exam.

However, I heard that, just like a health checkup, there are parts of the eyes that need to be checked separately from any visible abnormalities.

I am wondering if there are cases where it is necessary to check tests such as retinal function or intraocular pressure depending on age, even if vision is normal.
