Are there cases where an examination is recommended due to the condition of the gum bone, even if the teeth look perfectly fine?

On the outside, I don't look like I have any cavities or pain, but the dentist told me there are parts that are difficult to check just by looking.

I was a bit confused because I heard that there might not be any visible symptoms, especially around the gums or tooth roots. 🦷

I am curious if this is the reason why even people without pain undergo tests like X-rays during regular checkups.
