Everyone knows that in order to stay healthy, you need to exercise.

The reason I still don't do it is because thinking about hours of difficult and strenuous exercise makes me lose motivation before I even start. However, exercise for health does not have to be difficult or take up a lot of time.

 

According to a study conducted in 2014 at Iowa State University in the United States, involving an average of 44 years old and 55,138 adults, which found that "leisure-time running reduces the risk of death from all causes and cardiovascular disease," people who run in their leisure time had approximately a 45% lower cardiovascular-related mortality rate compared to those who do not.


In particular, the key finding of this study is that running less than 51 minutes per week, or running 5 to 10 minutes a day, did not show significant differences in positive effects compared to running 80 minutes, 119 minutes, or 185 minutes per week.

In other words, simply running for 10 minutes a day at a speed of 9 km/h is enough to diligently maintain your health. There's no need to run longer or faster.

 

However, this result was observed only among those who ran consistently and regularly, excluding those who stopped running during the study period, so maintaining consistency is important.

 
 

In addition, there are many other benefits of running. Dr. Ko Je-ik, a physician and writer in comparative medicine, appeared on the past YouTube channel 'Knowledge Inside' and explained, "Running for 10 minutes a day consistently can strengthen the heart and blood vessels, develop muscles, and increase male hormones. It also trains the autonomic nervous system."

 

Therefore, you can discard the idea of running for an hour or two for health and dragging your exhausted body to the gym to lift heavy weights. Let's develop a habit of running for 10 minutes a day and take the first step toward a long and healthy life.
