How to take

In diabetic therapy, the dosage of this medication is determined based on the maximum daily recommended doses for each ingredient: up to 25 mg of empagliflozin and up to 2000 mg of sustained-release metformin hydrochloride, considering each patient’s current treatment, efficacy, and tolerability. Precautions

This medication is an antidiabetic agent that helps control blood sugar levels. However, there are several precautions to be taken when using this drug. First, due to the presence of metformin, there is a rare risk of lactic acidosis, a serious side effect that should be reported to a doctor immediately if suspected. Additionally, co-administration with insulin or sulfonylureas may result in hypoglycemia, so caution is required. Patients with impaired kidney function, acute infections, dehydration, and certain diseases such as heart failure should not take this medication. It should be discontinued before tests or surgeries involving iodinated contrast agents and resumed only after kidney function has normalized. This medication may increase urine output, causing fluid loss, thus special caution is needed for patients at risk of dehydration or the elderly. During treatment, urinary tract infections or genital infections may occur, and if symptoms appear, immediate treatment is required. Vitamin B12 levels may decrease, so regular monitoring is advisable. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of lactic acidosis, thus excessive drinking should be avoided during treatment. It is recommended that pregnant or breastfeeding women do not use this medication. Additionally, this medication should be swallowed whole without chewing or crushing, and it is normal for the tablet shell to appear in the stool. While taking this medication, blood sugar levels and kidney function should be monitored regularly, and any abnormal symptoms should be discussed with healthcare providers.
