This medication effectively lowers blood pressure and helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Therefore, it is suitable for individuals struggling with blood pressure management and is used to improve blood pressure control in essential hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage of this medication is 1 tablet once a day, to be taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). Elderly patients (70 years or less) do not need initial dose adjustment. Patients with mild to moderate kidney impairment (creatinine clearance 30–80 mL/min) do not require dose adjustment, but for severe cases (creatinine clearance < 30 mL/min), treatment should begin with pimasartan 30 mg.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or risk of death to the fetus and newborn when taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the active ingredients or related components, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing renal dialysis, those with severely impaired liver function, patients with biliary obstruction, and certain diabetic patients should not take this medication. Patients with reduced blood volume or impaired kidney function, patients with renovascular hypertension, aortic stenosis, severe hypotension, the elderly, and patients with allergies to certain pigment components should be particularly cautious when administering this medication. This medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, facial and peripheral edema, urinary disorders, insomnia, and flushing, and in rare cases, serious neurological, gastrointestinal, or cardiovascular adverse reactions have been reported. Hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, especially elevated potassium levels, may occur during treatment, so the patient's condition should be regularly monitored and tested before and during treatment. Interactions may occur when combined with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, potassium-sparing diuretics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so consultation with a physician or pharmacist is necessary. Pregnant or nursing women are advised not to take this medication, and if necessary, should discuss thoroughly with a physician. The safety and efficacy of this medication in pediatric patients under 18 years of age have not been established, so its use should be avoided. In the case of overdose, severe hypotension, cardiac arrhythmias, shock, etc., may occur, and immediate medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and it is advisable not to transfer it to other containers. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur during treatment, so caution is advised when driving or operating dangerous machinery.
