Improvement of blood glucose control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps improve blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes when used in conjunction with diet and exercise. The combined action of sitagliptin and metformin effectively regulates blood glucose. This helps maintain stable blood glucose levels in patients. Therefore, this medication plays an important role in the management of blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The dosage of this medication is determined considering the patient's current treatment regimen, efficacy, and tolerability, without exceeding a maximum daily dosage of sitagliptin 100 mg and metformin 2000 mg. Generally, it is taken twice daily with meals, and the dosage should be gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal side effects caused by metformin. 1. For patients who have not previously received metformin treatment: Take this medication 50/500 mg twice daily.
This medication contains both sitagliptin and metformin and is used for diabetes treatment. When taking this medication, care should be taken to avoid allergic reactions. Rarely, severe allergic reactions or skin disorders may occur, so if such symptoms appear, immediately stop taking the medication and consult a physician. Additionally, a serious inflammation of the pancreas known as pancreatitis may occur, so if symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting arise, seek medical attention immediately. The metformin component can cause a rare but fatal metabolic abnormality called lactic acidosis, so it is safe for patients with impaired kidney function or liver problems not to use this medication. This medication should not be administered to patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, acute heart problems, severe infections, or dehydration. Treatment should be temporarily discontinued before and after examinations using iodinated contrast agents, and it should only be resumed after confirming normal kidney function. This medication is not recommended for use in pregnant women or nursing mothers. This medication may increase the risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis in cases of irregular meals, intense exercise, or concurrent use with other medications, so caution is required. During treatment, regular monitoring of kidney function and blood tests should be performed, and it is advisable to check vitamin B12 levels as well. Alcohol consumption may increase the risk of side effects from this medication, so it is advisable to avoid it during treatment. Hypoglycemic symptoms may occur, especially when used in conjunction with insulin or sulfonylureas, so blood glucose changes should be monitored closely. If bullous skin disorders or severe joint pain occur during the use of this medication, it is important to inform a doctor immediately, and the medication may be discontinued if necessary. In the event of overdose, seek immediate medical attention for appropriate treatment, and blood dialysis may be beneficial. Finally, this medication is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age, as its safety and effectiveness have not been adequately established.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), anaphylaxis, rash, exfoliative skin disorders such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, acute pancreatitis (including fatal and non-fatal hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis), lactic acidosis, acute renal failure, respiratory distress, severe and disabling joint pain, bullous pemphigoid, hypoglycemia, acute renal failure, elevated liver enzyme levels, rhabdomyolysis
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
