Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps to improve blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes by using sitagliptin and metformin together. It is more effective when combined with dietary therapy and exercise, and is used to manage blood sugar levels stably to alleviate symptoms of diabetes.
This medication is generally taken twice daily with food, and the dosage should be gradually increased to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions caused by metformin. 1. Patients not currently treated with metformin: - Starting dose of 50/500 mg, 1 tablet twice daily - Possible increase to 50/1000 mg, 1 tablet twice daily 2. Patients already being treated with metformin:
This medication is a combination of sitagliptin and metformin and is used for blood sugar control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Firstly, there may be a risk of severe allergic reactions while taking this medication, so if symptoms such as rash, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face or lips occur, you should stop taking it immediately and seek medical attention. Additionally, this medication may cause serious inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), so you should inform your doctor immediately if you experience abdominal pain, vomiting, or severe abdominal discomfort. The metformin component can cause rare but life-threatening metabolic complications known as lactic acidosis, so if symptoms such as sudden muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, or abdominal pain occur, you should stop taking it immediately and visit the hospital. This medication should not be used in patients with severely impaired renal function, acute cardiovascular disease, severe infections, dehydration, liver dysfunction, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and patients with type 1 diabetes. Regular kidney function tests should be performed during treatment, and particular caution is needed for elderly patients or those with slightly impaired renal function. It is important to maintain regular meals and appropriate exercise while taking this medication, as irregular or insufficient food intake can lead to symptoms of hypoglycemia. The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used with other blood glucose-lowering agents or insulin, in which case the dosage should be adjusted according to the doctor's instructions. Excessive alcohol consumption may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, so it is recommended to avoid alcohol while taking this medication. Before undergoing surgery or imaging tests with contrast agents, it is essential to consult your doctor about temporarily discontinuing this medication. This medication has not been established for safety and efficacy in children and is not recommended for patients under the age of 18. If you experience any uncomfortable symptoms or adverse reactions during treatment, consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately, especially if severe joint pain, skin rash, muscle pain, or dizziness occurs needing prompt evaluation.
