Precautions

This medication should not be used by patients who are allergic to certain components, are taking atazanavir or rilpivirine, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with poor liver function or kidney problems, elderly patients, patients with heart or lung issues, and those with severe gastrointestinal ulcers should exercise caution while using this medication. This medication contains sodium bicarbonate and Yellow No. 4 (tartrazine), so patients with electrolyte imbalances or allergies to specific dyes should be particularly cautious. During administration, symptoms such as skin rash, itching, blood abnormalities, liver function abnormalities, and heart or gastrointestinal disturbances may occur, so any symptoms should be immediately discussed with healthcare professionals. Long-term use requires regular blood tests and liver function tests, and caution is needed, especially for those taking it for over a year, as there may be an increased risk of fractures and hypomagnesemia. This medication suppresses stomach acid secretion, which may slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, and persistent diarrhea symptoms should be reported to healthcare professionals. Patients should exercise caution while driving or operating machinery due to the possibility of drowsiness or dizziness. There may be interactions with other medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare professionals of any medications being taken, particularly when combined with warfarin, methotrexate, atazanavir, and rilpivirine. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to reduced liver function, so caution is warranted. Safety in children has not been established, so it is advisable not to use this medication in pediatric patients. In case of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic, and this medication should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed. It should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from moisture and not transferred to other containers.
