This medication is used to lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia and to increase good cholesterol (HDL). It is also used as an adjunct to other treatments in patients with rare homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia to help improve blood lipid levels. This medication should be used in conjunction with dietary changes and lifestyle modifications, such as limiting saturated fat and cholesterol intake, for effectiveness. If there is a secondary cause of dyslipidemia, it is important to treat that cause first, and blood lipid levels should be regularly monitored before and during treatment to assess the condition. In patients at risk of cardiovascular disease, proper use considering multiple risk factors is necessary. This medication is used to improve vascular health by regulating cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
