Improvement of hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia (total cholesterol, LDL-C, etc.)
This medication is used to lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia and to increase good cholesterol (HDL). It is also used as an adjunct to other treatments in patients with rare homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia to help improve blood lipid levels. This medication should be used in conjunction with dietary changes and lifestyle modifications, such as limiting saturated fat and cholesterol intake, for effectiveness. If there is a secondary cause of dyslipidemia, it is important to treat that cause first, and blood lipid levels should be regularly monitored before and during treatment to assess the condition. In patients at risk of cardiovascular disease, proper use considering multiple risk factors is necessary. This medication is used to improve vascular health by regulating cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
This medication is administered once daily without regard to meals. For primary hypercholesterolemia, the recommended dosage is 10/10 mg to 10/80 mg daily, with an initial dosage recommended at 10/10 mg or 10/20 mg daily. For patients needing more significant LDL cholesterol reduction (more than 55%), an initial dosage of 10/40 mg daily is recommended. After starting treatment or adjusting the dose, blood lipid levels should be checked after at least a two-week interval.
