This medication should be applied once daily to the affected area. Use on the scalp is recommended for 4 weeks, and on areas outside the scalp for 8 weeks. The daily amount should not exceed 15 g, and the maximum weekly dose should not exceed 100 g for adults. The surface area to which calcipotriol is applied should not exceed 30%. When used on the scalp, apply an amount between 1 g and 4 g to the entire affected area daily.
The maximum weekly dose should not exceed 60 g for adolescents.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have allergies or hypersensitivity to this drug or its ingredients should not use it. Patients with abnormalities in calcium metabolism should also avoid this medication. It is not suitable for certain types of psoriasis patients, such as those with guttate psoriasis or pustular psoriasis. Patients with severely impaired kidney or liver function should not use it. It is also not administered to children or patients with ear infections with perforated eardrums affecting facial or periocular skin. This medication should not be used in patients with skin diseases affected by bacterial, fungal, viral, or parasitic infections, as it may worsen symptoms. Patients with wounds, mucous membranes, ulcers, severe burns, specific dermatitis, acne, or genital itching should not use this medication. Pregnant women, women of childbearing age, breastfeeding women, elderly patients, and those with liver dysfunction or diabetes should use this drug with caution. This is because corticosteroid components in the drug can affect blood sugar levels. Using this medication may cause skin adverse reactions such as itching, dermatitis, rash, skin irritation, or aggravation of psoriasis. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions or eye irritation have also been reported. Long-term use or use over large areas can lead to systemic side effects, such as adrenal suppression, increased blood sugar, or elevated intraocular pressure, so caution is advised. When using, always follow the prescribed dosage and method, and take care to avoid contact with sensitive areas such as the face, around the eyes, mouth, and genital skin, and mucous membranes. Always wash hands after use, and if symptoms worsen or do not improve, stop using the medication and consult a physician. Using this medication in large amounts or with occlusive dressings may lead to increased systemic absorption and serious side effects, so it is advisable to avoid them. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication when necessary and under the doctor's judgment, as it may affect the fetus or infant. It is preferable not to use this medication in children, as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. Care should be taken as excessive use of this drug may elevate serum calcium levels, leading to dehydration, muscle weakness, or coma. Take care to prevent this medication from entering the eyes; if it does, rinse immediately with clean water, and seek ophthalmological attention if symptoms are severe. When storing the medication, keep it out of the reach of children, use it within 6 months of opening, and do not refrigerate. During the use of this medication, avoid excessive exposure to natural or artificial light and it is advised not to use it in conjunction with other corticosteroids.
Hypersensitivity (hives, angioedema, facial swelling, etc.), hypercalcemia (polyuria, constipation, muscle weakness, confusion, coma), severe adrenal cortical dysfunction, cataracts, exacerbation of infections, metabolic control disturbances in diabetes, increased intraocular pressure and glaucoma, severe skin adverse reactions (serious rashes with high fever, blistering, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain), respiratory problems (shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough and fever)
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
