Treatment of essential hypertension and heart failure (intolerance to ACE inhibitors), reduction of mortality risk after myocardial infarction
This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension and to improve symptoms in heart failure patients (NYHA class II to IV) who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction. Due to its effectiveness for various cardiovascular diseases, it is actively used to manage the patient's condition.
Essential Hypertension: For valsartan, a recommended dose is 80 mg orally once daily. If blood pressure is not well controlled, it may be increased to 160 mg daily or combined with a diuretic, with a maximum dose of 320 mg daily. For elderly patients (aged 75 years and older), start with 40 mg once daily. For renal impairment patients with a creatinine clearance of 10-20 mL/min, start with 40 mg once daily.
Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established.
