This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to this medication, pregnant or nursing women, patients on kidney dialysis, patients with severe liver impairment, patients with biliary obstruction, and those with lactose intolerance should not take this medication. Patients with low blood volume or sodium may experience symptoms of low blood pressure when first taking this medication, so careful monitoring is required, and appropriate actions should be taken if low blood pressure occurs. Patients with impaired kidney function, kidney transplant recipients, or patients with renovascular hypertension should periodically check kidney function and serum potassium levels while taking this medication. Due to the risk of hyperkalemia, individuals with heart failure or kidney disorders should have their serum potassium levels frequently assessed, and should take precautions when engaging in dangerous tasks or driving because dizziness may occur. Mild side effects like dizziness have been reported in clinical trials targeting hypertensive patients while rare cases of skin rash or angioedema may occur. If severe diarrhea or weight loss occurs while taking this medication, consult a doctor, and if symptoms similar to chronic malabsorption appear, discontinuation may be necessary. Taking concurrently with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, lithium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, etc., may elevate blood potassium levels or impact kidney function, hence informing the physician and exercising caution is advised. During pregnancy, this medication should be avoided for the health of the fetus, and during breastfeeding, consideration of discontinuation or stopping breastfeeding may be necessary to avoid effects on the baby. Safety in children has not been established, so it is advisable not to use in children. In case of overdose, symptoms of low blood pressure and palpitations may occur, and if symptoms are severe, immediate medical attention should be sought. This medication is known to have a low risk of carcinogenicity or genotoxicity even with prolonged use, but it should be taken with caution.
