Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients undergoing dialysis or with impaired kidney function. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not take it. Patients with a history of acute porphyria should not be administered this medication as it may worsen symptoms. Patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal tract surgery or women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should avoid using this medication. Premature infants, newborns, and patients who need to limit potassium intake should also be cautious. Patients with impaired liver function or a history of drug allergies, elderly individuals, and those with a history of kidney disease should exercise particular caution when using this medication. If taken in conjunction with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, regular examinations are necessary due to the increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. This medication may mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so it is safer for patients with gastric ulcers or middle-aged dyspeptic patients to confirm malignancy before use. Patients with gastric and duodenal ulcers who have Helicobacter pylori should also undergo eradication therapy. Patients in a critical care setting, those with hypophosphatemia, and patients with swallowing difficulties should take care when using this medication. During the use of this medication, although rare, severe allergic reactions like anaphylactic shock may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. If skin rash, urticaria, or bronchospasm occurs, administration should be stopped immediately. Blood tests may show leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, or liver function abnormalities, so testing is necessary if symptoms appear. Reports have indicated that cardiac rhythm abnormalities, gastrointestinal symptoms, dizziness, drowsiness, mental confusion, and other neurological symptoms may occur, necessitating caution. If muscle pain or joint pain occurs, the use of the medication should be discontinued, and a doctor should be consulted. It is advisable not to use this medication for a long time, and if there is no therapeutic effect, it should be changed to another drug. Elderly patients or those with chronic lung diseases and diabetes may be at increased risk of pneumonia, so caution is warranted. If dizziness or drowsiness is experienced during use, it is best to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. This medication may interact with other drugs, so it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist if there are other medications being taken. It is safest for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use this medication. Safety has not been established for children, so it is advisable not to administer this medication to them. In case of overdose, emergency measures such as vomiting or gastric lavage may be required, and in certain situations, blood dialysis may be helpful. This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which may promote bacterial growth in the stomach; therefore, long-term use may necessitate ophthalmic examinations.
