Treatment of gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis
This medication is used to treat gastrointestinal issues such as ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, gastritis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Additionally, it helps prevent Mendelson's syndrome during pre-operative anesthesia and aids in treating ulcers that may arise post-surgery. It is also effective in treating gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, protecting the mucosa of the digestive system, and helps alleviate symptoms and promote healing. Overall, it is used to improve and treat symptoms related to gastrointestinal disorders.
Generally, 2 tablets orally twice a day regardless of meals, in the morning and before bedtime. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers Administer 2 tablets twice a day or 4 tablets once before bedtime. Particularly for patients with duodenal ulcers, administering 4 tablets twice a day in the morning and before bedtime can yield a higher treatment rate. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease Administer 2 tablets twice a day for 8 weeks or 4 tablets once before bedtime.
This medication should not be used by patients undergoing dialysis. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication or its components should also avoid use. It is not recommended for patients with the rare disease acute porphyria, as it may induce seizures. It is also safer not to administer this medication to patients with impaired kidney function. Patients who have undergone gastric surgery should not use this medication. It is advisable for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant to avoid taking this medication. Its safety has not been established for infants or newborns. Patients on a potassium-restricted diet should also refrain from using this medication. Patients with liver function issues or a history of drug allergies should use this medication with caution. Elderly patients or those who have had past kidney problems should also use with care. If combined with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, regular monitoring of gastric health is necessary. This medication may mask symptoms of gastric cancer, therefore patients with gastric ulcers or indigestion over the age of middle age should verify the presence of malignancy before administration. Patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori require treatment to eradicate the bacteria. In critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, caution is needed as it may lead to gastrolithiasis. Patients with hypophosphatemia may experience interference with phosphate absorption due to the aluminum content of this medication. Patients with dysphagia may face respiratory complications after taking this medication, thus caution is needed. While taking this medication, rare allergic reactions or shock may occur, so if symptoms arise, stop taking it immediately and inform medical personnel. There may be a decrease in blood cell count or liver function anomalies, so patients should undergo tests if they notice abnormal symptoms. Symptoms like irregular heartbeat, digestive disorders, dizziness, drowsiness, and mental confusion should be observed carefully. Rarely, muscle pain or joint pain may also occur, and treatment should be ceased if abnormalities appear. Skin-related symptoms like rashes or alopecia have also been reported. Long-term use is not recommended, and during treatment, symptoms and test results should be checked periodically. Elderly patients, those with chronic lung diseases, diabetes, or weakened immune systems may have an increased risk of pneumonia, requiring caution. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs after taking this medication, individuals should avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. There may be interactions with other medications, so especially if taking anticoagulants or specific antibiotics or anticonvulsants, it is necessary to consult with a physician or pharmacist. There may be effects on the absorption or excretion of other drugs taken concurrently, so adjusting the timing of administration may be necessary. It is safer for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid this medication. Safety for children has not been established, so it is advisable not to use.

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent air exposure and is best kept at room temperature between 1 degree Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius. This way, the medication's effectiveness can be maintained for a longer period.
