This medication is used to treat ulcers formed in the stomach and duodenum. It also relieves symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease and aids in long-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is used in conjunction with antibiotics to treat gastrointestinal ulcers in patients infected with Helicobacter pylori. It is also effective for conditions that cause excessive gastric acid secretion, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is used to treat and alleviate symptoms of various gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: Administer 10 mg orally once daily for adults, with the possibility of increasing the dosage to 20 mg once daily depending on symptoms. The treatment duration is up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to specific ingredients or a history of hypersensitivity reactions. It is particularly contraindicated in patients allergic to penicillin-type or macrolide antibiotics, and in those taking certain heart-related medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication. Patients with impaired liver function or the elderly should use this medication with caution, and those with a history of drug allergies should be closely monitored. If symptoms of allergy such as rash, hives, or itching occur while taking this medication, discontinue use immediately. Regular blood tests are recommended as changes in red or white blood cell counts may occur. Regular liver function tests should also be conducted, and if any liver function abnormalities or symptoms of jaundice appear, the medication should be discontinued. Caution is advised as symptoms related to the heart or changes in blood pressure, headaches, and neurogenic symptoms such as dizziness may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, and if severe, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary. Respiratory symptoms may include cough and shortness of breath, and if symptoms are severe, the medication should be discontinued. Muscle pain, joint pain, skin rashes, and hair loss have also been reported, requiring careful observation if such symptoms arise. Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, so bone density testing is recommended if necessary. Regular monitoring of serum magnesium levels is needed as hypomagnesemia may occur with prolonged use. This medication inhibits gastric acid secretion, which may slightly increase the risk of bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract, so inform healthcare professionals if diarrhea persists. Caution is necessary while driving or operating machinery due to possible drowsiness or dizziness. There may be interactions with other medications, so consult a doctor or pharmacist if taking antibiotics, anticoagulants, antifungals, or antivirals. This medication should not be chewed or crushed and should be swallowed whole, stored out of reach of children. It is safest not to use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and care should be taken when administering to the elderly due to the potential for liver dysfunction. There is no specific antidote for overdose; treatment and supportive therapy should be administered according to symptoms.
