This medication is used to relieve respiratory symptoms such as cough and phlegm.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Typically, adults (15 years and older) take 2 capsules at a time, 3 times a day after meals.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by women who are pregnant or of childbearing potential. It should not be used in infants under 3 months old. People who have had an allergy to this medication or its components should not take it. Those currently taking or who have recently stopped (within the last 2 weeks) taking MAO inhibitors such as antidepressants or antipsychotics should also refrain from using this medication. This medication contains lactose, so individuals with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should not take it. It is safe not to take this medication with other cough medicines, cold medicines, antihistamines, or sedatives. Individuals with allergies or previous drug allergy experiences must consult a professional before taking. Caution is advised for those with chronic conditions such as liver, kidney, heart, thyroid diseases, diabetes, or hypertension. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult before taking. Consult a professional if there is persistent chronic cough due to smoking, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or if the cough lasts more than a week. If symptoms like rash, itching, nausea, dizziness, urinary difficulties, anxiety, tremors, or insomnia occur during use, discontinue taking immediately and consult a professional. Prolonged high-dose use may lead to serious side effects such as increased blood pressure, edema, and muscle weakness, so caution is warranted. If symptoms do not improve after taking within 5-6 doses, discontinue and consult a doctor. It is generally safe not to administer to children under 2 years of age, except in special cases. Follow the prescribed dosage and administration closely, and adult supervision is required for children. It is best for children under 7 years old to take it in syrup form. Avoid alcohol during use, and since drowsiness may occur, refrain from driving or operating machinery. Be cautious when taking this medication with specific diuretics or medications containing licorice, as it may heighten the risk of side effects. Store this medication out of the reach of children, avoiding direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place. Do not transfer it to another container, and it is important to keep it in its original packaging to prevent misuse.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), increased blood pressure, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reactions, myopathy due to hypokalemia, hyperaldosteronism, severe swelling, serious neurological symptoms (including headache, paralysis)

Fever, rash, itching, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, anxiety, tremors, insomnia, weakness, drowsiness, headache, myopathy (including weakness, limb cramps, paralysis), urinary difficulties, thirst

Interactions

Drug interactions

Do not take this medication with MAO inhibitors (antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anti-Parkinson medications), other antitussive expectorants, cold medications, oral medications containing antihistamines (oral medications for rhinitis, motion sickness medications, allergy medications), or sedatives. Also, be careful when taking with potassium-containing agents, licorice-containing formulations, glycyrrhizin or its salts, loop diuretics (such as furosemide, ethacrynic acid), or thiazide diuretics (such as trichlormethiazide).

Food interactions

Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication.

Storage

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air and moisture from entering. It is recommended to store the medication at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C, avoiding excessively hot or cold locations.
